I Ain't Dead Yet

So, I haven't posted in awhile, for several reasons.

For one thing, as soon as I promise to have a MAJOR SERIES, my anxiety rises. I go to the computer and think nope, can't post now, I haven't had enough coffee to bang out a good essay. Besides which, I live in a three-story house, and if the computer is on the third floor and the book's on the first, I flop on the couch in defeat. Savannah has this way of sapping your energy. I think the Spanish moss feeds off it, like a Southern version of the dementors. What it boils down to is perfectionism. Whoever said "don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good" must have talked to my friends and family.

For another, life has been ca-raaazy over the past three weeks. To review, in this time frame we:

1. Moved 9 hours from D.C. to Savannah, without using movers. It was just me, my husband, my disabled mother-in-law, and his teenage sister, with the help of several wonderful local friends.

2. Unpacked everything (not a small feat when your living space is on the third floor) and dismantled all the boxes.

3. Cleaned out kitchen cabinets and other storage areas which were in disarray from a previous tenant.

4. Got myself into an intensive outpatient program (IOP) which is basically group cognitive behavioral therapy 3 hours a day 5 days a week, for 15 days, on the recommendation of my previous psychiatrist.

5. My husband was ordained into the diaconate at St. Paul's Savannah on Saturday May 31. That same day, we drove to our hometown (about 4 hours away) where he preached and served at his home parish. (We then drove back to Savannah that day).

6. My husband was installed as the curate at a parish outside of Savannah, which has been very welcoming to us.

7. Received the news that we would not, in fact, be living in our current house and needed to find a separate apartment. We are now in the process of doing so.

In my ample spare time (!) I am looking for a job.

But we ain't dead yet!
